Who we are
The Uganda Warehouse Receipt System Authority (UWRSA) was established by an Act of Parliament (WRS ACT 2006) as the regulator of Warehouse Receipt System as provided for in Section 3, of this Act, there are also regulations in place (WRS Regulations 2007) to guide operations.
There is also a functional Board of Directors in place comprising of mainly private sector representatives from core stakeholder organisations including; Cooperatives, Bankers, Insurers, Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Forwarding and Clearing Industry, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Farmers Representative and the Private Sector Apex Body.
The Authority is supervised by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, and closely collaborates with other Agencies under the same Ministry.
UWRSA’s main role is to regulate and promote the Warehouse Receipt System through partnership with the private sector mainly warehouse operators, producers and financial institutions.
