MIS – (Market Information Systems), are information systems used in gathering, analysing and disseminating information about prices and other information relevant to farmers, traders, processors and others involved in handling agricultural products. These kind of systems play a critical role in agro-industrialisation and food supply chains.
Uganda Warehouse Receipt System Authority (UWRSA) is partnering with the private sector players to deliver market information about the 18 most commonly traded commodities accross the country which include among others; maize, rice, beans, millet, coffee, matooke, cassava, groundnuts, soya beans etc , including weather patterns.
Target price reports will be based on farm gate prices, transit prices, consumption prices, transaction prices, regional prices and international trade for each of the commodities selected.
This initiative will directly benefit stakeholders in the commodity value chains and empower the private and public sectors to make informed decisions in trade and business while also contributing to achieving the Third National Development Plan (NDPIII).
